Macro
The big picture: how much of the world's stock market is trending, where, and which groups lead.
Macro has three sections, listed in its sidebar: Overview, Markets and Trends. Every page has the Weekly / Daily and CAPR / Local switches at the top, opening on Weekly CAPR. The CAPR Overview, Winners, Losers and Breadth count stocks; Geography & Sectors and the Trends pages average every asset carrying that region, country or sector, so ETFs, digital assets and futures count there too.
Overview — the CAPR Overview
The CAPR Overview is Macro's front page. It asks one question across the global stock market: how many stocks are in a Leading Trend and how many in a Bear Trend, on the Weekly CAPR regime?
- Tiles across the top give the day's key figures. The Score 5, Score 0 and average tiles follow the score switches; % Leading and % Bearish always use the Weekly CAPR regime.
- Global CAPR Breadth charts the share of stocks in a Leading or Bear Trend back to 2009, as weekly averages of daily shares. Either line can be swapped for Winners or Losers — every stock with a Weekly CAPR score of 5 or 0, wherever it sits in its range, so always at least as many as Leading or Bearish. Click the chart to move the Date to that week. The lines are weekly averages, and hovering a week gives its average; the figures the chart prints — at the end of each line and at the Date — are that single day's, the same as the tiles and the map.
- The Leading vs Bear Map places every stock in either regime by country, then sector: regime in the inner ring, country in the middle, sector outside. Click a slice to zoom in and the centre to zoom out; zoom down to a sector to list its stocks.
Below the Screens plan the map either shows counts by country and sector for every stock without naming them, or leaves out the stocks your plan doesn't score; a note under the map says which.
Markets
- Geography & Sectors ranks every region, country and sector by its average trend score, in three charts. Below the Screens plan, groups with too few scored stocks are withheld, and the page says how many.
- Winners and
Losers follow the
stocks at a score of 5 and of 0: today's share by sector and region,
and a region-by-sector table of it, over the stocks your plan scores.
The history line covers the past year in the five largest regions.
Each page ends with a section on where those stocks sit:
- The 5s, at the foot of Winners, asks where the stocks at 5 sit, with a row each for country, sector and industry. Each row has three charts: the share of the 5s each group holds, as a ring; its hit rate, the share of the group's own stocks at 5, against a dashed line for all stocks; and the 5s over time, each group's share as stacked bands back to 2009. The smallest groups' 5s count in Other, and the section says how many groups that is. Click a slice to list its stocks — part of the Screens plan and above; below it, a click offers the subscription instead.
- The 0s, at the foot of Losers, asks the same of the stocks at 0: the same three charts per row, with each group's hit rate now the share of its own stocks at 0.
- Breadth splits
stocks by score into four bands — the 5s, the 3–4s, the 1–2s and the
0s — and shows them two ways. The 5s and 0s are drawn at full
strength and the middle bands faded, so the two ends read first.
- Breadth bars follows one group over time, a bar per week or per month, for all stocks or for one country, sector or industry, over 1 to 10 years or back to 2009. Beyond five years the bars are monthly, and the latest bar may be part-way through its week or month. Switch it to Average score to see the group's average as a line, against all stocks' as a dashed benchmark. All groups draws a small chart for every sector or country, and clicking one opens it on its own.
- Breadth by group shows today's bands as a bar per country, sector and industry, the first bar being all stocks for reference. Order the bars by most 5s, 5s minus 0s, highest average score, fewest 0s or A to Z; countries and industries can be limited by their number of stocks, and industries to one sector. Click a bar to list its stocks — part of the Screens plan and above; below it, a click offers the subscription instead.
Trends
Regional Trends, Sector Trends and Country Trends track each group's score distribution over time. A column of cards lists the groups — All first, then each group in ranked order. Click a card to show that group's breadth chart and summary beside the column.
Read the shape of a group, not just its average. A sector with most stocks at 4–5 is broadly trending; one split between 0s and 5s averages out to something unremarkable while really being a stock-picker's sector.
The score and regime definitions are on The ByteTrend score; how to use Macro in a workflow is in Your first screen.
